Check-Up Call

Scott called yesterday to check up on my progress. That was nice of him!

Unfortunately, there was a little bit of server delay with our email systems and we weren't able to get into detail about the keyword list I had put together. I had come up with a group of niche terms revolving around ebook resale rights, internet marketing, marketing ebook, marketing software, online business, online marketing and software resale.

However, once he did get them, Scott gave me the same feedback again regarding credibility. I can understand the significance of a credible resource - heck, I touched on that topic myself prior to taking this course. I need a piece of mind just like anyone else...

In this case, I really don't understand. How in the world can I pull credibility out of thin air? The fact of the matter is - I don't have the experience in Internet Marketing, in resale rights, in an online business whatsoever. I honestly wouldn't know why someone should buy from me and not from my competitor. Does that mean I am not qualified to do business online? Is this another one of those Catch 22's?

Scott suggested that I think about what people ask me advice about.

The only thing I can think of relates to my job at Google - how to write effective ad text, how to select the right keywords, how to build a campaign that works, and various tips and tricks on Excel and optimization in general. If credibility is really something that is so important, then this is the only choice I have.

Call #1 - Niche Market Ideas

On our first call today, Scott asked me to dig down into a specific area of credibility and interest. This is particularly hard, just because I'm not really credible at anything!

I did prepare an outline of my interests, which include resale rights products and affiliate programs. However, Scott really drilled down to get me to spit out something that I am passionate about or have experience in.

I narrowed my interests down to party/event planning, music and Google AdWords, the latter not necessarily an interest, but more so that I have the most credibility. But to be honest, I'm not sure if I'd want to work on the exact same thing for both jobs!

In any case, Scott then introduced to me Wordtracker and we went over how to do some keyword research and niche market brainstorming. It was an interesting call and I have free full access to Wordtracker during the duration of my program!

So for the next 2 weeks, my homework assignment is to do more research and come up with a good group of keyword phrases and also come up with both a product statement and a problem statement.

Finally Had My Intro Call!

I talked to Scott earlier today, and he sounds like a very down-to-earth kinda guy. We talked about the business and my aspirations for this program, and he seems very dedicated to helping me reach my goals. That's exciting!

It does sound like this is going to be a very intensive program. After all, we only have 6 months time together. He also sounds like a very busy guy with a hectic schedule, so we're going to have to keep things organized in order to run smoothly.

For now, we've planned out all 12 of our sessions. It looks like they're going to be in the middle of the week every other week in the morning. I hope this doesn't cause a problem with work, but this is important - so I'll figure something out.

My first call will be in a couple of weeks. I'll let you know how that goes!
