Call #11: Stats

We're finally moving on from salescopy! However, this is not to say that it is over. As we talked about in an earlier post, the salescopy is a project that will never be finished - it'll be ongoing as we test results from different headlines and bonuses, etc.

So how do you track results?

From web statistics! There are free as well as paid services out there that will generate a code for you to place on your website so that you can track the actions of your visitors and see how many of them are actually converting for you. You can even see how long they've been on your site!

Of course, you get what you pay for, and if you want a good stats tracker, you're going to have to pay for one. The free one will only give you so much.

However, a lot of web hosting services also provides you with a webstat tool. This may be a good investment since web hosting is something that you need anyway!

BuzzMeIn! Marketing is in Business!

Well, it's official. Earlier this afternoon, during my lunch break, I marched myself down to San Jose Post Records and the City of Santa Clara and completed registration of my Business License. Yes, that's right. Effective immediately, I'm in business!

After several months of intense research and studies, I'm finally ready to go public. I know, I know. I am the biggest procrastinater in the world. I must say that I have learned quite a bit, which, of course, means absolutely nothing if I don't take action. However, in my defense, my full-time job does take up a big chunk of my time. It's not your typical 9 to 5 job, and at least I've been spending my off-time trying to be productive.

It was definitely a confusing and frustrating period - still is. During the learning process, I had invested a ton on programs, ebooks and software. There were resources on creating membership sites, selling products with master resale rights, joining affiliate programs, writing ebooks, developing software, advertising for free, building a mail list, increasing traffic and maintaining customer relationships, just to name a few.

You guessed it right. I was a sucker for them all. Needless to say, 90% of them were garbage and a complete waste of time and money. With no programming background, little Internet Marketing experience and a limited budget, establishing a presence in this industry is quite a tall mountain to climb.

Fortunately, I was able to find several sources that I found to be reliable and a huge contribution to my determination to not give up in my quest for success. I spent the last several weeks glued to my ebooks and looking for the best deals on finishing up the final touches of my launch - domain names, hosting, autoresponder, free reports, bonuses, emails and messages.

And now, I'm just about ready to launch my first Internet Marketing website - AdWordsOptimization.com. It is a website promoting Perry Marshall's The Definitive Guide to Google AdWords. I've put a lot of work into this, and it definitely wasn't easy! With the help of Scott Fullerton from the late, great Corey Rudl's Internet Marketing Center, I was able to receive some very valuable feedback on how to write effective salescopy. Please take a look at what I have so far and let me know what you think.

At the same time, I'm also working on several other websites, as well. As you can tell, it's definitely taking up a lot of my time. But I must say, it has sure been fun, and I am certainly looking forward to the ride ahead!

Midas Touch Marketing Fan

Several months ago, I was introduced to Ewen Chia's tremendous credibility as an affiliate marketing expert and leader. Ever since then, I have been a big fan. Every couple of weeks, I still continue to receive very useful updates, tips and resources from Ewen. This guy is an information goldmine!

To date, I have purchased several products from Midas Touch Marketing, which is the company that Ewen has formed with his partner, Jo Han Mok. I must say, these are products that are worth a lot more than the crap that I used to buy from those scammers in the first few months of my online business venture.

In addition to Stuff Your Inbox With Cash, I have also invested in the following products from Ewen so far:

Power Affiliate Marketing - Secrets of how Jo Han Mok was making 5-figures while he was still in college!

Mini eBook Secrets - Secrets of how to create your own mini eBooks to build your opt-in list and explode your affiliate commissions!

The information is awesome! I wish I had landed here right when I first started so I didn't have to waste all that time on money on crap that just did not work!

Call #10: Traffic Generation

Wow, we covered a LOT of good information on generating traffic today!

The first method we talked about were regarding search engines. While we discussed strategies to get traction naturally, we also talked about submitting our sites to the search engines. However, this is not recommended until at least 6 months after your site is live, and you are not getting indexed by the spiders at all.

Another method we talked about were inbound and outbound links. You can do searches and email the webmasters of sites with high page rank, or you can use automated software to do it. Whatever the case, be sure to keep track of these sites so you know which ones are helping you!

Other strategies include becoming an expert in your niche and becoming an active participant in forums or article websites, and also ensuring that you always have fresh content on your website.

Finally, parts of the webpage such as title attributes, H tags and meta descriptions also play a role in the effectiveness of your page rank.

With the right combination, you're on your way to getting some very qualified and targeted traffic to your website!

Giving Up on EPI - Bad Upline

Yes, I decided. I tried on multiple occasions to get in touch with my Emerald Passport director, Tony Lampert, but he just isn't very responsive. He's supposed to be my mentor, but he doesn't even respond to my emails!

Back in late January, we had set up a time to chat. I even gave him my phone number. He never called, and I haven't heard from him since, with the exception of the autoresponder messages he sends me from time to time, as well as his plugs for additional "opportunities."

That was around the time I started with Scott on the Advanced Mentoring program, so needless to say, that kept me busy for a while. In fact, Scott got me to take a completely new focus on the type of business I would be conducting, and the EPI model just doesn't fit into my criteria.

So, I walked away from this for some months while I learned the basic skills of the Internet Marketing sales process. However, I still think about this program every now and then along the way, simply because it was a big investment on my part and I really wanted to make it work.

A few times in January, April and as recently as a few days ago, I contacted Tony and asked for help. I had a lot of questions about the program, as well as a few other services that I had originally paid for by the year. Just as I suspected - NO RESPONSE!

This is very frustrating to me, the type of people I ended up working with. They are obviously very self-centered and only want to work with you if they feel like you are going somewhere, but they do not put in the effort to help you get started. Then, after you get the hang of things on your own, they snoop back in to cash in on your efforts.

As I expressed my frustration several months ago, I am more sick than ever of this upline and downline crap, especially when your upline does nothing to help you. I'd only want to work with dependable and responsible individuals, because I know that anyone I work with can depend on me. I go above and beyond for teamwork and customer satisfaction, and I'd be damned if my team doesn't do the same.

From now on, I'm learning this business on my own, by finding credible resources that won't blow me off. If I'm ever to become an upline myself in any type of program, I'm going to be the best mentor ever. And it's not going to be any scammy "opportunities," it's going to be legit. If you see me promoting something to join, you can bet your bottom dollars that I know first-hand that it works, or at the very least, will cost you nothing to join.

Call #9: Website Final Touches

Even though AdWordsOptimization.com is live, I'm still making changes to it on an almost daily basis. In terms of content and formatting, there's always something that needs to be improved.

But on today's call, Scott talked a little more in regards to creating an autoresponder form to capture my visitors' email addresses. I need to subscribe to an autoresponder service or install some type of form script in order to make this feature functional.

How will I get the visitors to subscribe, you ask? Well, I'm going to create a Top 10 tips special report. Yes, I'm actually going to write it myself! This is my first shot at actually creating a product of my own. So I'm definitely excited about that!

Scott also gave me some critique on my FAQ page. I agree with some of things he had to say, but not all. Nevertheless, he is my mentor, so I took his advice. I'm going to make some of these changes and upload the revised pages onto my website!
